Where to eat tasty and cheap in Florence - my favorite restaurant

Dear friends, it is time to share my favorite restaurant in Florence.

Today, you will learn:

  • Why am I ready to come from Rome to Florence for just a couple of hours?
  • Where is delicious, and most importantly, inexpensive to eat in Florence?

Pleasure search

Last summer, while relaxing in Florence, I was faced with the question of finding a great restaurant. After a survey of friends and acquaintances, it became clear that finding a restaurant with an adequate price / quality ratio in the super tourist capital of Tuscany would be very difficult.

Although in general the average level of food in Italy is quite high, all the same, living here for the third year, I want to get a level of dishes higher than the average tourist, even in a popular place.

In life, much decides the case and, bypassing the recommended restaurants, it was decided to rely on luck and go deep into the city. That's right (I was just lucky), literally a few blocks on the other side of the Arno River, Santo Spirito Square was found with many delicious places and Osteria Santo Spirito, which will be discussed.

You will find it useful:

Osteria santo spirito

The restaurant has a playground on the street and in the season from April to October I recommend booking a table there. But inside is also quite comfortable. Here is the hall on the ground floor.

Here on the second.

My friends know that I am a big fan of ZUPPA DI COZZE, for the sake of whom I visit La Piazzetta restaurant 5-6 times a year in Sicily - it is unlikely that most of you will get to those lands forgotten by God, but I confidently say that no less You can taste delicious mussel soup at Osteria Santo Spirito. Not 100 percent Sicilian, but very tasty. In Rome, unfortunately, I never found a good COZZE. Yes, this restaurant "bribed" me with this particular dish.

  • Take note: where to eat tasty and inexpensive in Rome

We are looking in the menu in the Antipasti section (Antipasto, warm-up before main dishes) ZUPPA DI COZZE PANE AGLIATO for 10 euros - it is very cheap, but you have not yet seen the portion size and have not tasted it.

It is very impressive that many Italian restaurants have an open kitchen, and you can always see how your dish is prepared. My cozz on the right.

At the exit we get a huge bowl of soup with mussels, which even I eat up, but of course, I’m always ready to help my neighbor.

Most of the portions here are simply huge and the restaurant owners honestly recommend that you order half (Porzione ridotta). Well, where are you going to meet such honest people nowadays? My wife's favorite dish - TORTELLACCI FATTI A MANO CON CREMA DI NOCI - handmade tortellacci (essentially dumplings) with hazelnut cream.

Half a portion for 5 euros, and for 10 euros, you guessed it will be 2 times more. Very tasty, I recommend.

Of the other pleasant prices, a glass of wine - 2-3 euros, a liter of homemade about 8 euros, beer - 3 euros

The service of 2 euros per person is included immediately in the bill, so you can not leave a tip, unless you really, really like it.

  • Official site of osteria: www.osteriasantospirito.it - here you can see the menu, prices and see more photos. You can reserve a table by calling +39 055 238 2383 in Italian or English.
  • Address: Piazza Santo Spirito, 16, 50125 Firenze - literally a 10-minute walk from the Ponte Vecchio bridge and 20 minutes from the train station.
