Review of Tiboli Sibilla Restaurant - 300 years of history

Sibylla - one of the most legendary restaurants in Italy, which has been serving the first people coming to Rome for 300 years. Pope Leo XII and the Prussian king, Maria Alexandrovna and the Japanese emperor, Yoko Ono and Neil Armstrong dined here, and today politicians and show business stars.

In April, during a trip with my friends to Villa d'Este in Tivoli, I accidentally ended up in this restaurant on the advice of guide Irina Kravchenko. I admit, then I did not know anything about Sybil, but simply looked for a place for lunch. So the review will be even more objective because I was expecting just lunch, and here such a story!

Location and interior

The restaurant is located at Via della Sibilla, 50, Tivoli right by the gorge overlooking the waterfalls.

On warm, sunny days from April to October, the terrace is an indisputable feature of the restaurant. The panorama is truly breathtaking.

The restaurant has several rooms, on the walls there are many historical photographs of Tivoli. The atmosphere is very comfortable.

At the entrance, a book of reviews, be sure to look through.

Dishes

Of course, we started our lunch with prosecco

Light snacks - bread with tomatoes was brought almost immediately.

With bread, as always, carefully, only they can already be eaten.

And a few minutes later they began to surprise. For the first time in three years of living and traveling in Italy, I saw such a feed of antipasti. It seems everything is simple, but very elegant and delicious.

And not only I am alone - people from neighboring tables literally lined up in a queue, everyone asked me to photograph an unusual dish.

Antipasto, indeed, is very satisfying, I advise you to order it for 2-3 people and share.

Then there was a salad with chicken.

A portion of ravioli with burrata cheese (Burrata - Italian cheese made from buffalo milk, a type of mozzarella).

Calf meat (Lombata di Vitella).

Dessert

At the neighboring tables, visitors actively ate desserts and although we were already full enough we could not resist and ordered everything that was available. Italian cookies with pistachios brought a bonus.

Loose Cake Millefolie (Sbriciolata Millefoglie)

Delicate Lemon Delight dessert (Delizia Limone)

Tiramisu is my favorite Italian dessert and, of course, I try it almost everywhere. Tiramisu in Sibylla - now, confidently enters the TOP of the best in the ranking ITALY FOR ME.

Score

The bill for 3 people was 159 euros. Much or less of this will be decided individually by everyone. In principle, of course, one could manage a much more modest amount - without champagne, antipasti and desserts, but we only live once, right?

Summary

If you are looking for an unusual restaurant with a beautiful view for a festive moment or just come to Tivoli for a day with a guided tour - the Sybil restaurant is a must-see. The panoramic view around is worthy of true kings! Right in the courtyard of the summer playground is almost the perfectly preserved antique temple of Ancient Rome, under which there is a reserve, where in the middle of a forest you suddenly find intersperses of magnificent Tivoli waterfalls in Gregorian’s villa. The average price of a check for a full lunch or dinner (antipasti, main course, dessert, wine) - 40-50 euros per person - this is about 1.5 times the average price for Roman restaurants, but the amount spent is more than offset by impressions and quality Italian the kitchen. Recommend.
