Italian transgender Vladimir Luxuria expelled from Sochi

Vladimir Luxuria, a former member of the Italian parliament who made headlines after being detained in Sochi, was expelled from Russia. Recall that the activist was detained by the city police several days ago for waving a multi-colored flag with the inscription “Gay-okey”, which local authorities considered unconventional propaganda.

 

Luxuria, who is a well-known figure in Italy, went to Sochi to not only support the national team of her country, but also to express dissatisfaction with the new law adopted in Russia last summer. According to him, on the territory of the Russian Federation it is strictly forbidden to promote non-traditional sexual orientation.

Any violation may result in a fine, but they decided not to apply such measures to Vladimir, who is a citizen of another country.

The Italian announced that she was going to be deported on Tuesday, announcing that from now on she is considered to be a non grata person in Russia. The IOC supported the decision of the local authorities to send the transgender from Sochi, explaining that the Olympic Games are not a place for demonstrations and protests. It is worth noting that the activist admitted that law enforcement officials treated her very politely during her detention.

Luxuria has also been confiscated a pass to attend the competition.

Already at home, Vladimir hastened to share all the latest events and her feelings. “At some point, I was really scared. I asked what they were going to do with me. The questions “Will they beat us?” Revolved in my head Will they arrest me? It was like a scene from a Fellini movie. I am dressed as a fairy princess in Russia. I am not ashamed of my words. I was very nervous. Later I became aware that the Italian ambassador contacted the police chief. And only thanks to the embassy I was released. ”

Vladimir Luxuria previously bore the name of Vladimir Guadagne (Vladimiro Guadagne). Already being a transgender, she became a member of the Italian parliament.

Despite the fact that the activist gives herself up as a woman, she did not change her body through surgical interventions and is still legally male. However, this did not stop Vladimir from dreaming in several films and occupying a leading position in the Italian homosexuality movement. It was Lusuria who became one of the organizers of the country's first gay parade. Then about ten thousand people took to the streets of Italy.

From 2006 to 2008, a transgender was elected to parliament from the central region of Lazio. During this time, the activist has repeatedly advocated improving the quality of life of members of minorities, demanded asylum for LGBT refugees, and also took part in the cultural life of the country. After she was not reelected for a second term in parliament, Luxuria appeared in the show L'Isola dei Famosi, the Italian version of Survivor. The activist won, saying that the people of Italy proved to be more far-sighted than politicians. All the 200 thousand euros that went to the winner, she gave to charity.
